During the 12 week internship, the Claim Intern will learn key claim and insurance concepts and how they are applied at Church Mutual. Interns will spend time in the various units within the Claims Department performing basic claim work involving coverage analysis, investigation concepts, evaluating case values and participating in special projects typical of an entry-level claims employee.
Provide end-user technical computing break/fix support to users through troubleshooting, tracking, resolving and reporting progress and resolution of problems. Provide end-user service request fulfillment for installations, moves, adds, and changes (IMAC) for the end-user technical environment. Provides second-level technical support for all user devices. Support Information Technology asset management process. Coach and mentor less experienced staff.

The role of the IT Infrastructure/Systems Architecture ensures lifecycle management for core technology platforms, capabilities, and services that support business processes and data including: relationships between IT platform/infrastructure components (i.e., End User technology, core data center technology (servers, storage, network), the software to manage these platforms and identifying the most cost effective means of delivery (on-premise, Cloud).
The Infrastructure Architect will play a critical role in CM Group’s digital transformation journey, working with the architects and domain subject matter experts to create strategic plans. The Infrastructure architect will evaluate the technical feasibility of adopting external cloud based IT platform and infrastructure services including: platform-as-a-service (PaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) that provides scalable IT infrastructure including servers, security devices, info-communications networking, mass storage, and associated systems software, evaluating the cost/benefit of cloud vs. virtual private networks vs. dedicated hosting vs. in house solutions and identifying portions of the organization’s IT platform/infrastructure with the highest potential return for cloud deployment Developing the plan for the implementation of cloud services and integrating with in-house applications and systems.
Leads the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement. In addition, leads the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise as well as on the enterprise technology architecture

As part of a team, provide timely solutions to customers primarily through telephone and email inquiries while optimizing the customer experience. Provide comprehensive direction regarding insurance coverages and options, information as requested, and resolution for concerns. Documentation of all inquiries and actions taken is required. Process transactions, complete required forms, and produce insurance documents. Determine eligibility for additional coverages and policies, including quoting and selling.
As an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Intern you will work with Reinsurance & Risk Modeling Manager and Team to support the corporate reinsurance program, economic capital model processes and catastrophe risk management.

Establish and implement standards for quality assurance of support systems. Ensure that the end‑to‑end product results are accurate in preproduction and production environments. Create and perform testing to ensure that the system requirements for all business stakeholders is met. Analyze test results and coordinate needed changes and updates to business users. Establish training for transaction processing and initiate audit process to evaluate consistency of processing. Analyze and troubleshoot issues in production environment and complete follow‑up process for issue resolution.
**This is a hybrid position that requires two days per week in the our Merrill, Wiconsin office, 3 days remote**
In accordance with application of state and federal laws and company best practices, handle low to moderate value claims within an assigned line of coverage, such as medical payments, short duration indemnity, minor auto physical damage, property damage, business personal property, and low exposure bodily injury claims. Gather and review claim information, determine coverage, and conduct investigation. Initiate and maintain customer contact to provide updates and resolve any issues with the claim. Update information in the claim system to document claim handling activities. Determine/set reserves and make payments within level of authority. Investigate and refer identified claims to Loss Recovery Services, as applicable.

Actively share knowledge with team members, contribute to training programs, and mentor other claim representatives.

Act as a leader, mentor and subject matter expert on product coverages, policy language and application of rules. Research, develop and implement new products. Provide product recommendations based on key competitor and industry leader product filings and trends. Develop and maintain strong relationships within the company and the industry ranging from insurance regulators to trade organizations.

Provide oversight and management direction in the research and development of new and existing products utilized by Church Mutual. Analyze competitor and market information to provide strategic direction for the company. Set standards for the development of forms and supporting documentation. Provide technology standards and architectural design support for Church Mutual’s telecommunications systems (voice, video, and audio/visual) in minimizing costs and maximizing service levels to assure telecommunications systems availability. Work with Church Mutual vendors to design communications infrastructure consisting of telephone, voice/data, and video solutions. Anticipate future needs and growth of telecommunications systems, and make recommendations on necessary hardware and software. Monitor telecommunication environment and address service incidents by responding quickly to restore critical services. Develop, communicate and maintain telecommunications disaster recovery plans.
