In accordance with application of state and federal laws and company best practices, handle higher exposure, complex claims within an assigned line of coverage. Gather and review claim information, determine coverage, and conduct investigation. Initiate and maintain customer contact to provide updates and resolve any issues with the claim. Update information in the claim system to document claim handling activities. Determine/set reserves and make payments within level of authority. Investigate and refer identified claims to Loss Recovery Services, as applicable.
Provide underwriting efforts to develop a book of business submitted by contracted producers to achieve profitability goals. Assist personnel in all levels of:
• Individual risk underwriting decisions.
• Underwriting strategy.
• Book management.
• Product development and management.
• Efficient operations and technology.
Mentoring responsibilities to include partnering with the Managing Director and working with less-experienced Underwriters and Assistants to enhance their skills. Maintain and build upon appropriate business relationships with various constituencies, including but not limited to fellow employees, assigned brokers, reinsurers, and vendors.
Underwrite accounts to develop a book of business that will achieve profitability goals that meet division objectives. Analyze and evaluate risk, recognize exposure to make sound underwriting decisions on risk acceptability, coverage alternatives, risk management recommendations, and pricing. Work with team members and assist in all levels of individual risk underwriting decisions, underwriting strategy, book management, and efficient operations and technology. Continually maintain and build upon business relationships with various constituencies, including but not limited to fellow employees, assigned brokers, reinsurers, and vendors.
Support accounting staff in areas of tax and regulatory reporting, operational accounting, investment, treasury, and accounts payable. Process transactions in accounting systems and complete assigned tasks to support the monthly financial closing process and meet tax and regulatory deadlines.
Coordinate strategic underwriting projects to execution and drive optimization of implemented solutions. Conduct thorough research and analysis, providing informed decisions to support strategic value proposition for internal and external stakeholders. Utilize data insights for effective governance of new and renewal business initiatives. Effectively communicate critical project impacts. Employ strong focus toward continuous improvement and workflow efficiencies within initiatives.
