What you’ll be doing:

The Senior Compensation Analyst is a key resource to help Church Mutual Group maintain, evaluate and strengthen our compensation programs to attract and retain the best employee talent.  Provides analytical expertise and business support to ensure company compensation programs are externally competitive and internally equitable. This includes market pricing and benchmarking, job evaluation, and participation in a variety of activities to support the competitiveness of Church Mutual Group’s compensation programs. 

On any given day, you’ll:

  1. Market Pricing & Analysis: Conducts market pricing analyses of Church Mutual Group roles to determine and maintain competitive and fair pay levels through pricing tools and industry surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results, market trends, and overall competitiveness.
  2. Compensation Strategy: Assist with the design and implementation of the organization’s overall compensation strategy and helps ensure alignment with business objectives, market competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  3. Job Evaluation: Evaluate and determines appropriate pay grades for positions. Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other relevant information to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position and to ensure internal equity and market competitivness.
  4. Consultation: Collaborates and consults with HR Business Partners and business leaders on compensation-related items including:  Job descriptions, compensation practices, and processes involving salary administration, restructures, new hire, transfer, and promotions.
    1. Provides input and guidance in the creation/editing of job descriptions.
    2. Provides advice on pay decisions, policy development implementation and interpretation, and job evaluation.
  5. Process Improvement: Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.  Coordinate with HR staff to educate managers as appropriate.
  6. Reporting: Prepares and presents reports summarizing compensation data and related analyses as well as job evaluation information. 
  7. Research and Analysis: Conducts market research and analysis to validate Church Mutual Group’s policies, practices, and structure and recommend changes as needed.  Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
  8. Compensation Administration: Participates in administration of Church Mutual Group’s overall compensation program, including salary survey participation, performance increase and promotion cycles, compensation program communication & education, executive compensation, and variable pay plan design & administration.   
  9. Projects: Participates in or may lead special projects, such as survey participation & analysis and compensation integration for mergers & acquisitions.
  10. Compliance: Ensures that compensation actions are in compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations.  Advises management on applicable state and federal employment regulations impacting our compensation practices. 
  11. Confidentiality: Uses judgement and highest level of professional confidentiality to safeguard compensation information and understands when to escalate issues.

Here’s what we expect

  • Typically requires 5-8 years' compensation experience reflecting a solid understanding of compensation principles, practices and administration.
  • Bachelor's degree is required. Equivalent education and/or years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • Human Resources or Compensation certification is preferred or working toward certification is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop professional working relationships and gain rapport.  Demonstrates intrinsic and intentional customer service.
  • Ability to successfully manage relationships and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail conscious, and flexibility in setting priorities and adjusting workload to manage a diverse range of activities and projects.
  • Strong knowledge of, and ability to work proficiently with, Microsoft Excel (e.g., vlookup, pivot tables), Word, and PowerPoint.

Minimum Compensation

USD $82,700.00/Yr.

Maximum Compensation

USD $124,100.00/Yr.
