Assist accounting staff in the following areas: regulatory reporting and accounts payable. Process transactions in accounting systems to support the monthly financial closing process and meet tax and regulatory deadlines.
• Assist with completion of regulatory and tax filings, including statutory financial statements.
• Assist with routine maintenance to Unit 4 Financials and other software applications.
• Complete financial journal entries as assigned on the journal entry inventory.
• Complete financial closing duties as assigned on the monthly closing checklist.
• Assist with completion of uncashed check procedures, including the processing of follow-up letters and the submission of unclaimed property filings.
• Enter purchase orders to the procurement system.
• Enter financial transactions to the general ledger system.
• Complete department projects as assigned.
• Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent experience in an accounting support role is required.
• Two or more years in an accounting support role preferred.
• Basic knowledge of accounting and reporting principles.
• Knowledge of personal computers and related software skills.
• Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess effective time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Must be responsible and able to work on own initiative.
*This is a hybrid position that requires 2 days per week in the Merrill office*
