At Church Mutual, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. For more than 125 years, we’ve made it our business to protect those who serve and inspire others through our specialized insurance expertise and innovative solutions. Our customers do amazing things for the world — when we protect them, we Stand for Good. We foster a workplace where all employees are treated with dignity and respect; diversity, inclusion and belonging are woven into the fabric of our company through our customers, employees, leadership, business relationships and outreach programs.

What you’ll be doing:

Within established binding authority, analyze insurance submissions, recognize exposures, provide coverage alternatives, offer risk management suggestions, and adequately price insurance coverage on accounts of small to medium size and low complexity within company underwriting guidelines.  Achieve corporate goals by reviewing account characteristics and taking appropriate action.  Develop knowledge of insurance issues, products, trends in the market, and pricing principles.  Foster positive business relationships with internal and external customers

On any given day, you’ll:

  • Within established binding authority and in compliance with filings, write and retain business to meet corporate objectives.
  • Using various sources of information, analyze, evaluate, make, and document decisions to achieve desired underwriting results of transactions on small to medium size accounts.
  • Recognize exposures to loss, identify coverage alternatives, develop risk management recommendations, and adequately price to an expected profitability level. Negotiate solutions, keeping the customer in mind.  Decline/nonrenew business not meeting standards.
  • Communicate with supervisor on issues exceeding binding authority and territory issues.
  • Develop and maintain an effective business relationship with the sales force. Answer questions within abilities and authority: research, gather, and disseminate information to help service customers; and offer suggestions on options and alternative approaches to coverage, pricing, and risk management.
  • Develop underwriting knowledge through an awareness of changes within the Underwriting Department, understanding CM Group, insurance industry coverages, policy forms, and operations specific to our niches.
  • Develop an understanding of insurance issues, products, trends in the market, and pricing principles.
  • Focus to meet customer expectations through meeting department timeliness expectations, assisting in territories as needed, and positive interactions with all customers (including Sales, Technical Support, and other departments).
